It's Finally Open!

HI!,
The hottest fashion news in NYC is the opening of the Brit import clothing store TOPSHOP.
www.topshop.com

Every fashion groupie from uptown to downtown has been waiting for months and months
- me including !
Not since the coming of H&M has there been such a fashion frenzy.

I am going to try to venture on down to Soho -- but I have to say the crazy crowd might make me a bit queasy . I might have to wait until the scene calms down.

I read on line : "Topshop is like H&M and Forever 21 had a baby"

Let's hope this baby is CURVYGIRL FRIENDLY!

I will keep you posted!

If you are going or have been let me know.

Fashion Look of the Week

I have been hearing so much about "The Boyfriend Jeans"
They baggy jeans
worn roomier than your jeans -low at the waist - widely rolled up at the cuff.

I do like the name -- what a novel item - to have a BF and wear his pants.

This trend is not a new one. My research and old movies show the look dates back to the 1950's . Teens wore their jeans big and baggy.
Not at all to be confused with the hanging off look populated by urban guys -- please no! Not that!
This BF jean look is controlled. The jeans are not falling off your body.

When Katie Holmes wore TC's jeans, the pics were all over the fashion pages. Frankly, I did not buy the fact the jeans were her hubby's . Katie is not the FASHION CLEVER. I think some stylist told her to wear them -- then called the a photographer to take her pic , post it on a fashion blog -- done!
- That's the instant fashion story for the week.

I do like the look I have to say -- but is it CURVYGIRL FRIENDLY??

You know me -- "TRY ON , TRY ON , TRY ON You never know.

So that's my goal today - to see if I a CURVYGIRL with STYLE can indeed wear the BOYFRIEND JEAN .
But darn! I don't have a BF so I have to go to the store.

I will let you know tomorrow how made out!

Mamma Mia - The Movie

The movie Mamma Mia movie is based on the musical and the music of Swedish band ABBA
Starring Meryl Streep ( who we all have a fashion fondness since The Devil Wears Prada )
Amanda Seyfried
Christina Baranski ( from my hometown of Buffalo, N.Y.)

It's just a Summertime movie of frolic fun. It's not a deep pensive movie - I don't think it was meant to be. Hey, it's Summer when life is free & easy.

Sophie - the girl getting married the story centered around , looks adorably healthy .
It was wonderful to see one of the Hollywood's youth that looks normal
and not like one of the Olsen twins.
No bones about it!

What I really enjoyed was the visual aspects of the movie.
Vibrant gleaming colors of the beautiful Greek landscapes.
The water was beyond the bluest blue.

The the background cast also reflected a range of hues.
Very reflective of Greece.

EASY BREEZY SUMMER LOOKS

The outfits wore by the character Sophia were super cute !
Her tops were embroidered peasant
style wore with rolled up jean shorts and sneakers!
Even the background players were wearing sneaks !
-- Sneaks with flossy short shirts
-- Sneaks with long flowing dresses
So comfortable and causal.
The wedding party seemed to be wearing light colored shapeless sheer nightgowns over lace camis.
To produced a more shapely garment -- pastel ribbons were tied at the waist.
What a simple Summer idea !
I think I am going to try that look!

The outfits were all CURVYGIRL FRIENDLY

Right now , I am researching how you the CURVYGIRL can re-create some of the outfits of the movie.
I am NOT talking about the flashback 80's deals!

MORE TO FOLLOW!

If you have seen the movie please click on COMMENTS & share!!
You know I love hearing from you!

BIG FASHION NEWS for TODAY

Hi,
The Big Fashion News for Today
is the dress that Mrs. Obama wore on The View on June 18Th.

I as one of the true FASHION FOLK has been wondering which designer Michelle Obama
will be wearing as she enters into the White House
It's all so very JACKIE O!
On The View she mentioned a designer Maria Pinto out of Chicago.
I am doing research on her -- I will keep you posted.

The dress she wore on The View was a simple B&W printed sleeveless number with a shiny black flower pin for extra style --- to quote Michelle Obama "You put a little pin on it you've got something going on"
I am living on that!

This is an excellent marketing moment for the chain store BLACK & WHITE and for Michelle Obama.

I love the fact that fashion does not always have to cost tons of $$$ to be fabulous.

As I understand it as of 11AM 6/19/2008 the dress has been sold out at the store on 5TH AVE in New York City ! - gone in a FASHION FLASH!

I am off to BLACK & WHITE store.

I sure hope the store is CURVYGIRL FRIENDLY !
I will let you know!

Xo!
